Text message updates
There is close to no phone signal on the land. When something changes that you need to know about before you arrive — the gate has moved, the road is closed, a weather hold — a text is the only thing that reliably reaches people. That is the entire reason this exists.
Optional, and it stays optional
You can buy a ticket, camp, and come to the whole festival without giving us a phone number or agreeing to texts. Nothing about your order changes if you leave the box unticked, and we will never make it a condition of buying.
What we text you about
- A gate or road change
- The way in is not the way you were told. This is the one that matters most.
- Weather
- A hold, a warning, or something you need to prepare for on the land.
- Safety
- Anything affecting your safety while you are there.
- A schedule change
- A set moves far enough that turning up at the old time means missing it.
And nothing else. No lineup announcements, no presale reminders, no merchandise, no "we miss you" the following spring. Those go by email, where they belong. Sending marketing down this channel would train people to ignore the one message that is genuinely urgent, and it is not what anyone agreed to.
How you opt in
There is a single optional checkbox during checkout, alongside the phone number field. This is exactly what it says:
Text me urgent event updates
Optional — you can buy without it. Gate changes, weather, safety and schedule changes only, never marketing. Message frequency varies and message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time, or HELP for help. Full details at beatsandbranches.com/sms.
That is the whole flow. The consent is not bundled into our terms and not implied by buying a ticket — it is a box you tick, or do not.
How to stop
Reply STOP to any message and you will not get another one. It takes effect immediately and you do not have to explain yourself. Reply HELP to get our contact details back, or ask in the Discord and we will remove your number by hand.
Opting out of texts does not affect your ticket, and it does not unsubscribe you from the emails that carry your QR code — those are how you get through the gate.
The small print carriers want stated
- Messages come from Beats & Branches.
- Message frequency varies. In a normal year this is a handful of messages in the week of the festival, and none at all outside it.
- Message and data rates may apply — that is between you and your carrier.
- Reply STOP to cancel. Reply HELP for help.
- Carriers do not guarantee message delivery, so please do not treat a text as your only source of truth. The running order is updated too.
- Your number is held in the ticketing platform, not on this website. See our privacy page for who holds what and how to have it deleted.
- We keep a record of when you ticked the box, because carrier rules require us to be able to show it.
